Huesca vs Villarreal – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 20 encounter, with Huesca taking on Villarreal on Saturday the 23rd of January, 2021, at Estadio El Alcoraz.

Huesca visited Getafe on Wednesday, went 1-0 down in the 69th minute, and that proved to be the only goal of the match. Yet another defeat for Huesca, yet another failure to score. Their current form reads; LLLLL. They are on 12 points from 19 matches, at the very bottom of the table, six points behind Deportivo Alavés, the first team above the relegation line. They have 1W, 9D and 9L, having lost four La Liga matches in a row now (the fifth “L” you see in their current form was in a Copa del Rey game). Goals, 14 scored, 29 conceded. As you would expect from a team sitting at the bottom of the table, they have scored less goals than any other team in the league this season. Recently-appointed coach Pacheta played a 3-4-2-1 formation against Getafe, with Rafa Mir up front. Pacheta made two substitutions in the 62nd minute, with the game still at 0-0, two more in the 79th minute, with his team 1-0 down, but nothing helped them score that precious goal they needed to at least salvage a point.

Villarreal hosted Granada on Wednesday, having won four games in a row before that, three in La Liga and one in Copa del Rey. They found themselves 0-1 down in the 21st minute, but equalized soon after that, and even took the lead themselves in the 65th minute, from the penalty spot. They couldn’t hold on to that though, in the 75th minute it was their turn to get equalized, and that’s how the game ended, 2-2. Their current form reads; DWWWW. They are on 33 points from 19 matches, 4th in the table. They have 8W, 9D and just 2L. Goals, 28 scored, 19 conceded. Coach Unai Emery played a 4-3-3 formation against Granada. Rubén Peña scored Villarreal’s first goal, and Moi Gómez gave them the lead – temporarily – in the 75th minute from the penalty spot. Super important detail: Villarreal won a second penalty in added time, Paco Alcácer took it, but failed to send the ball in, massive chance lost by Villarreal to snatch all three points.

Back in September, Villarreal and Huesca drew 1-1 with the former as hosts.

A 0-1 victory for the visitors is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 23rd of January, 2021.

Venue: Estadio El Alcoraz

Kick-off time: 14:00 (GMT+2).
