Hellas Verona vs Parma – Serie A Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 29 continues with Hellas Verona taking on Parma on Wednesday the 1st of July, 2020, at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

If Hellas Verona end up missing out on a Europa League ticket for a point or two, they may remember the way they wasted two points against Sassuolo on Sunday. They were 1-3 up with less than 15 minutes left, 2-3 up with the game in added time, but were obliged to settle for a single point (3-3). Following Sunday’s matches they were 9th on the table, on 39 points from 28 games. Their current form reads; DLWLD. Verona have 10W, 9D and 9L, having scored 34 goals and conceded 32, which leaves them with a 2GD. Coach Ivan Jurić chose a 3-4-1-2 formation against Sassuolo. Darko Lazović and Mariusz Stępiński had a goal and an assist each, with Matteo Pessina also adding his name on the scoresheet.

Just like Verona, Parma dropped the ball in the last minutes of their game over the weekend. They hosted Inter Milan, took a 1-0 lead early thanks to an awesome Gervinho goal, stayed 1-0 up until the 84th minute, but by the 87th they were 1-2 down(!), from which they failed to recover. Following Sunday’s games Parma were 8th on the table, on 39 points from 28 matches. They have 11W, 6D and 11L, having scored 38 goals and conceded 35, which leaves them with a 3GD. Their current form reads; LWDLW. Coach Roberto D’Aversa played a 4-2-2-2 formation against Inter. Andreas Cornelius, the guy who scored a hat-trick a few days earlier against Genoa, missed absolutely golden chances to make it 2-0 for Parma, allowing Inter to stay in the game.

The reverse fixture, which took place in October 2019, was a 0-1 Hellas Verona victory. Before that, the two teams had not met since the 2014-15 season. Back then, Verona won 3-1 at home, and drew 2-2 away.

A derby, in the sense that the two teams are level on points, and have the same target, earn the last Europa League ticket. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but we should expect goals from both sides.

A 2-2 draw is predicted at full-time.
