Benevento vs Torino – Serie A Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 19 encounter, with Benevento taking on Torino on Friday the 22nd of January, 2021, at Stadio Ciro Vigorito.

Benevento visited bottom-of-the-table Crotone last weekend, a game in which everything went horribly wrong for them from super early. Less than four minutes into the game, Glik scored an own-goal, giving Crotone the lead. Benevento conceded again before half time, and then twice more(!) in the first 20 minutes after the interval. Also, they lost Sau to a direct red card in the 65th minute. Down 4-0 and playing with 10 men, at least they managed to score a consolation goal (4-1) in the 82nd minute. Their current form reads; LLWLW. They are on 21 points from 18 matches, 11th in the table. They have 6W, 3D and 9L, three of those (defeats) in their last four games. Goals, 21 scored, 34 conceded. Coach Pippo Inzaghi played a 4-3-2-1 formation against Crotone, at least for 65 minutes, until Sau got sent-off. Spaniard Iago Falqué came off the bench in the 75th minute, and seven later he scored Benevento’s consolation goal, his first of the season, from five Serie A appearances.

Torino hosted Spezia last weekend, saw their guests get left with 10 men just eight minutes into the game(!), they spent pretty much the entire match enjoying a numerical advantage, but they still failed to score(!). They didn’t concede either, the game ended in a goalless draw. The day after that pitiful result, Marco Giampaolo lost his job, Torino’s new coach is Davide Nicola. Their current form reads; DLLDW. They are on 13 points from 18 matches, 18th in the table, right below the relegation line. They have 2W, 7D and 9L, more defeats than anything else, but just one in their last five games. Goals, 26 scored, 35 conceded. Torino may be below the relegation line, but only top-10 teams have scored more than them. That “26 goals scored” is rather impressive for a team that low in the table. Still, they couldn’t find the back of the net against Spezia, despite playing 11 vs 10 for more than 80 minutes… Former coach Giampaolo played a 3-5-2 formation last weekend, but we should probably see changes now that a new man is in charge.

Benevento and Torino last met three seasons ago. Back then, Torino won twice, 3-0 at home and 0-1 as guests.

A 2-2 draw is predicted at full-time.
