Stuttgart vs Koln – Bundesliga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 5 encounter, with Stuttgart taking on Koln on Friday the 23rd of October, 2020, at Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Stuttgart visited Hertha Berlin last weekend, took the lead less than 10 minutes into the game (they had already missed a good chance by then), and not only protected that lead in the remainder of the match, but they scored again in the 68th minute, securing all three points. That final 0-2 was their second win away from home this season, in as many games. Interestingly, they have earned all six possible points as guests, but only one from two matches at home. Their current form reads; WWDWL. Seven points for them from four Bundesliga matches thus far. Goals, nine scored, five conceded. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo played a 3-4-2-1 formation in Berlin last weekend. Centre-back Marc Oliver Kempf headed the ball in to open the scoring after a Daniel Didavi foul-kick, and captain Gonzalo Castro put the game to bed with his second-half goal (shot from outside the box). According to reports, Stuttgart will start with Kobel, Stenzel, Karazor, Kempf, Silas, Mangala, Endo, Castro, Didavi, Gonzalez and Kalajdzic. They have five guys injured, unavailable.

Finally a point for Koln… Last weekend they hosted Eintracht Frankfurt, having lost their first three Bundesliga matches. Despite going 0-1 down from the penalty spot, they found it in them to fight back, equalized, and actually had chances to win the game. Truth is, Eintracht could have won it as well, so the final 1-1 felt somewhat fair. Koln’s current form reads; DLLLW. As previously mentioned, they earned their first point last weekend. Coach Markus Gisdol played a 4-1-4-1 formation against Eintracht, with Swede Sebastian Andersson up front. It was Ondrej Duda who equalized in the 52nd minute, and soon after that he missed a good chance to make it 2-1. According to reports, Koln will start with T. Horn, Ehizibue, Bornauw, Czichos, J. Horn, Skhiri, Rexhbecaj, Wolf, Duda, Jakobs and Andersson. Three guys are out, injured, and two were considered doubtful 48 hours before kickoff.

Stuttgart and Koln last met three seasons ago, when both played in the Bundesliga. Back then, Stuttgart won twice, 2-1 at home and 2-3 as guests.

Stuttgart should… take care of business.

A 2-1 victory for the hosts is predicted at full-time.

Date: Friday, 23rd of October, 2020.

Venue: Mercedes-Benz-Arena

Kick-off time: 20:30 (GMT+2).
