Cadiz vs Sevilla – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 3 continues with Cadiz taking on Sevilla on Sunday the 27th of September, 2020, at Estadio Ramón de Carranza.

Cádiz lost 0-2 at home to Osasuna on their La Liga debut two weeks ago, but somehow found it in them to bounce back right away, beating Huesca 0-2 on the road last weekend. Álvaro Negredo opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and Jorge Pombo secured the three points with his 83rd-minute goal. Their current form reads; WLDWW. Coach Álvaro Cervera remains… loyal to his way of thinking, practically… disliking ball possession. Be reminded, despite earning promotion to La Liga last season, they spent the entire year being consistently one of the teams with less ball possession in their games. Most coaches would call this… footballing suicide, but it has worked miracles for Cádiz, because they don’t defend just for the sake of defending, they defend always keeping an eye on what to do once they do win the ball and have the chance to counterattack...

Sevilla faced Bayern Munich on Thursday, a European title (Super Cup) was at stake, took the lead from the penalty spot, got equalized, missed an incredible opportunity to “snatch” the title towards the end of regular time, and finally succumbed in extra-time, conceding for a second time. After the 70th minute it was all too obvious that most of Sevilla’s players were… more than exhausted, on the verge of collapse, while on the other side, Bayern’s players looked like they could go on… for another 90 minutes. Sevilla’s current form reads; LWWWW. Coach Julen Lopetegui told reporters after the Super Cup match that he was proud of his players for the effort, and for challenging this… scary Bayern side. He will have to make changes to his starting lineup though, as Thursday’s game is just too close to repeat the same first 11. This will be Sevilla’s debut in La Liga.

The last La Liga game between these two was on 2006, a 0-4 Sevilla triumph. They did meet two years ago though, in the Copa del Rey round of 16. Sevilla won both games, 0-2 as guests and 2-1 at home.

If the game were played on Monday, as initially scheduled, Cádiz’s chances would be much fewer. Now, knowing that Sevilla will start the game with several reserves, the hosts have the… right to hope.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Sunday, 27th of September, 2020.

Venue: Estadio Ramón de Carranza

Kick-off time: 18:30 (GMT+2).
