Napoli vs Lazio – Serie A Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 38 continues with Napoli taking on Lazio on Saturday the 1st of August, 2020, at Stadio San Paolo.

Napoli visited Inter Milan on Tuesday, and, as predicted here, lost the game, 2-0. They did have chances to score, but the fact that they went 1-0 down just 11 minutes into the game, playing against the team with the best defensive record in the country, made things extra difficult for them. Their current form reads; LWLWD. Napoli are 7th on the table, on 59 points, with a spot in next season’s Europa League group stage guaranteed, thanks to their Coppa Italia success. They have 17W, 8D and 12L, having scored 58 goals and conceded 49, which leaves them with a 9GD. Coach Gennaro Gattuso played a 4-3-3 formation against Inter. It is worth noting that Napoli finished the game with just one yellow card (Inter had four), which up to a point mirrors their overall “we want to win, but we are not going to die for that” attitude on the pitch.

Lazio hosted Brescia on Wednesday, and, as predicted, won the game 2-0. Actually, they had more than enough chances to finish the game with a 4-0 or 5-0. Especially Ciro Immobile could have scored at least three goals, instead of “just” one. Their current form reads; WWWLD. Lazio are fourth on the table, but they could still finish second, if they beat Napoli, and the game between Atalanta and Inter Milan ends in a draw. Lazio have 24W, 6D and 7L, having scored 78 goals and conceded 39, which leaves them with a 39GD. Coach Simone Inzaghi played a 3-5-2 formation against Brescia. As already mentioned, Immobile scored again, and is now on 35 goals, four more than Cristiano Ronaldo. Joaquín Correa scored Lazio’s other goal against Brescia.

The reverse fixture, which took place in January this year, was a 1-0 Lazio victory, courtesy of a late Ciro Immobile goal. The most recent game between these two though, is a 1-0 Napoli win in Naples, mid/late January, a knockout Coppa Italia clash.

Regardless of who wins, we should see at least three goals.

A 1-2 victory for Lazio is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 1st of August, 2020.

Venue: Stadio San Paolo

Kick-off time: 20:45 (GMT+2).
