Midtjylland vs Slavia Prague – UEFA Champions League Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Playoff return leg, with Midtjylland taking on Slavia Prague on Wednesday the 30th of September, 2020, at MCH Arena.

Last week’s goalless draw in Prague left Midtjylland with a bittersweet taste; sweet, because they earned a draw away from home, didn’t concede, and the qualification will now be decided at their own home. Bitter as well though, because they had the chances towards the end of the match to win it, to score that all too precious away goal, and they missed them all. Their current form reads; WDWWL. On Saturday they hosted Randers in Denmark’s championship, and won 1-0. First points for them, after losing on their debut, earlier this month. Coach Brian Priske told reporters he expects the return leg to be even tougher than the first one in Prague, and indirectly admitted that his team should have scored a goal in Czechia.

Slavia were dominant on the pitch last week until around the 65th minute, they created – but missed – four-five very good chances to take the lead, but towards the end of the match they were lucky not to concede, lucky and… thankful to their goalkeeper, who made some important saves. Deep down, that 0-0 at home wasn’t a too bad result, given that they didn’t concede. They traveled to Denmark knowing that any draw with goals will be enough for them to qualify. Their current form reads; WDWDW. They hosted Slovácko on Saturday, in Czechia’s championship, and won 3-0. They are on 13 points from their first five matches there. Coach Jindrich Trpisovsky praised Midtjylland for being a “compact” and “hardworking” team, but seemed to have no doubt that his Slavia will make it to the group stage, looking sure that they will score away from home.

Last week’s goalless draw was the first game ever between these two.

Slavia are a better team than Midtjylland, simple as that. This does not necessarily mean they will qualify, but they should, one way or another, even if they… suffer and it comes down to a late goal.

A 1-2 victory for Slavia is predicted at full-time.
