Nice vs Lille – Ligue 1 Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 8 encounter, with Nice taking on Lille on Sunday the 25th of October, 2020, at Allianz Riviera.

Nice visited Saint-Etienne last weekend, took a 0-2 lead in the first half hour of the game, end ended up winning 1-3, being by far the better team on the pitch. Midweek though, their trip to Germany to face Bayer Leverkusen on their Europa League group stage debut proved to be a… traumatic experience. Nice didn’t just lose, more like… got massacred, conceding six(!) goals (6-2). Their current form reads; LWWDL. They are on 13 points from seven Ligue 1 games, seven from their last three. They have 4W, 1D and 2L, with 10 goals scored and nine conceded. Coach Patrick Vieira played a 3-4-2-1 formation last weekend, with Amine Gouiri up front. It was a central midfielder, Pierre Lees Melou, who opened the scoring early, in the 8th minute, and Gouiri himself who made it 0-2 in the 30th. Myziane Maolida came off the bench in the 72nd minute, with the score at 1-2, and was the one who finished the game off in added time, scoring Nice’s third goal.

Lille hosted Lens last weekend, in a local derby, which was also a clash between two teams at the top of the table. Lille were glad to take an early lead, a goal that sort of set the tone. Their 2-0 in the 48th minute practically secured the three points for them, and the red card a Lens player saw soon after that meant the… end for the visitors’ hopes of avoiding defeat. Lille went on to score two more goals, a fabulous 4-0 that meant they finished Game Week 7 at the top of the table, on 17 points. They have 5W and 2D, no loss yet. Goals, 13 scored, just two conceded. Their current form reads; WWWWD. Midweek, another triumph; they visited Sparta Prague on their Europa League group stage debut, Yusuf Yazici scored three goals, and Lille won 1-4(!). Coach Christophe Galtier played a 4-4-2 formation last weekend, with Burak Yilmaz and Jonathan David up front. Yilmaz scored the opener, and then more goals from Bamba, Ikoné and Yazıcı followed.

Nice and Lille drew 1-1 last season in the south of France. The game between these two in the north, at Lille’s home, did not take place.

Super interesting game… Lille are leading in Ligue 1, but if Nice win, they will be just one point behind Lille.

A 1-2 victory for Lille is predicted at full-time.
