Levante vs Celta Vigo – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 7 encounter, with Levante taking on Celta Vigo on Monday the 26th of October, 2020, at Estadio de la Cerámica.

Levante were probably… unlucky to find opposite them the best Athletic Bilbao of the start of the season. They managed to stay at 0-0 until the 68th minute, but it was obvious that Athletic would eventually score, it felt… inevitable, and it happened indeed. Levante conceded again later, lost 2-0, and if they want to be honest with themselves, they must admit that they didn’t really deserve a point in Bilbao. Actually, given how the whole game went, the final 2-0 was rather… flattering for them. Their current form reads; LLLWL. They are on three points, thanks to their 1-3 win at Osasuna. They have lost their other four games in La Liga. Goals, five scored, 10 conceded. Coach Paco López played a played a 4-4-2 formation, with Melero and Morales up front. Levante failed to create a single real scoring chance in the entire game. Athletic’s goalkeeper had one of the quietest afternoons of his career.

Celta hosted Atlético Madrid last weekend, went 0-1 down in the 6th minute, missed two awesome chances to equalize before halftime, but instead of… stepping on it in the second half, they ran out of steam, looking consistently second best on the pitch. Atlético missed chances to finish the game off earlier, before finally scoring a second goal in added time (0-2). Celta’s current form reads; LLLDW. That was their third defeat in a row, and also third consecutive game without a goal scored. They now are on five points from six matches in La Liga. Coach Óscar García played a 5-3-2 formation, with Iago Aspas and Santi Mina up front. Celta have scored just three goals in their first six matches. Before this weekend’s games, only Elche had as few (but from four matches, not six), and Deportivo Alavés.

Levante beat Celta twice last season, 3-1 at home and 2-3 as guests.

Leaving aside how easily they lost to Athletic last weekend, someone could claim that Levante deserved more than three points at the start of the season, based on how they have looked (again, leaving the defeat in Bilbao aside). You can’t really say the same about Celta...

A 1-0 victory for Levante is predicted at full-time.
