Borussia Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig – Bundesliga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 6 encounter, with Borussia Monchengladbach taking on RB Leipzig on Saturday the 31st of October, 2020, at Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK.

Gladbach visited Mainz last weekend having drawn 2-2 with Inter in Milan a few days earlier, on their Champions League group stage debut. Borussia took the lead in the 15th minute (they had five changes in their starting lineup compared to the one in Milan), but found themselves 2-1 down at halftime(!), despite playing against a team that had lost all four games until then in the Bundesliga, since the start of the season. Gladbach got their act together in the second half, even though they did need a little bit of luck, winning a penalty in the 76th minute. That’s how they equalized, and a few minutes later they completed the comeback, scoring the winner (2-3). Their current form reads; DWDDW. Midweek, they hosted Real Madrid, were winning 2-0(!) until the 87th minute, but had to settle for a single point(!!), as they conceded twice in the dying minutes of the match. In the Bundesliga, they are on eight points from five matches. Goals, eight scored, as many conceded. Lars Stindl, Jonas Hofmann and Matthias Ginter scored their goals against Mainz. Coach Marco Rose is expected to have Sommer, Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini, Kramer, Neuhaus, Hofmann, Stindl, Thuram and Plea in the starting lineup.

RB Leipzig hosted Hertha Berlin last weekend, four days after beating Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0 on their Champions League debut. They conceded first, but they were the… more clever team on the pitch, and got rewarded for that, scoring twice later on. Final score, 2-1, their sixth win in seven matches at the start of the season, Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and Champions League combined. Their current form though, reads; LWWWW. They didn’t just lose midweek to Manchester United, they got massacred (5-0!). In the Bundesliga, they were leading after the first five rounds of matches, on 13 points, one more than Bayern and Dortmund. Upamecano and Sabitzer scored for them last weekend. Coach Julian Nagelsmann is expected to have Gulacsi, Orban, Upamecano, Halstenberg, Nkunku, Sabitzer, Kampl, Angeliño Olmo, Forsberg and Poulsen in the starting lineup.

Leipzig beat Gladbach 1-3 as guests last season, and drew 2-2 at home in the reverse fixture.

Super interesting game, between two Champions League teams.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 31st of October, 2020.
