Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig – Bundesliga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 14 encounter, with Stuttgart taking on RB Leipzig on Saturday the 2nd of January, 2021, at Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Stuttgart visited Wolfsburg two weeks ago, in their most recent Bundesliga match, went 1-0 down early in the second half, failed to answer back, and left the pitch empty-handed. Three days later they – sort of – bounced back, beating Freiburg 1-0 at home, in a knockout DFB Pokal game. Their current form reads; WLDWW. They are on 18 points from 13 matches, 7th in the table. They have 4W, 6D and 3L. Actually, before losing to Wolfsburg, they had earned seven points from their three previous games, looking well. Goals, 26 scored, excellent, two per game on average, but several conceded, 20, something over 1.5 per game. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Wolfsburg, with Coulibaly up front (he got substituted in the 60th minute). Stuttgart may be high in the table, 7th, but incredibly, they still haven’t won a single game at home this season in the Bundesliga! Four draws, two defeats, not a single victory. Last time they played at home, on December 15, they drew 2-2 with Union Berlin.

They… did not see that coming… RB Leipzig hosted Koln two weeks ago, being in awesome form, flying from one victory to another. Somehow, they failed to score(!) against Koln, but at least kept a clean sheet, their third in a row, to earn a point. Three days later they visited Augsburg for a knockout DFB Pokal match, which they won 0-3. Their current form reads; WDWWW. They are on 28 points from 13 matches, third in the table, two points behind leaders Bayern Munich. They have 8W, 4D and 1L. Goals, 24 scored, just nine conceded. There are five teams that have done better than them offensively thus far this season, but no Bundesliga team has done better than them defensively. Leverkusen have conceded 12 goals, three more than Leipzig. Coach Julian Nagelsmann played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Koln, with Poulsen up front. At halftime, Forsberg was sent in for Poulsen and Dani Olmo for Sabitzer, Sørloth as well entered the pitch in the 62nd minute, but that goal they were after, never came.

Stuttgart and Leipzig last met two seasons ago. Back then, Leipzig won twice, 2-0 at home, and 1-3 as guests.

A 1-2 victory for the visitors is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 2nd of January, 2021.

Venue: Mercedes-Benz-Arena

Kick-off time: 20:30 (GMT+2).
