Cairns is in for a real treat, with a match with significant meaning, which in fact will decide if the Dogs are to play in the Finals or if they cower to the pressure applied, when Melbourne won their match on Saturday.  Fremantle have been playing some superb AFL lately, as was indicated by the 64-point shellacking they gave the hapless Kangaroos at this venue last weekend, which moved them to 7-9, meaning a win here would make them just 1 win outside the 8.  The Doggies last weekend played very well to smash Hawthorn by 36, cementing themselves in this all-or-nothing brawl for a top 8 berth, that is to say, they now control their own destiny.  Sticky warm weather persists in Cairns, though a breeze is helpful in one way, but detrimental to kicking accuracy.

Walters season is over as he has succumbed to injury for Fremantle, while youngster Tobe Watson is not selected for this final clash, as the Dockers welcome back some stars, giving this 4-points the respect it deserves.  Conca is one such star, as he will return to play in the Back Pocket, and is set to play his 25th game for Fremantle after moving over from Richmond back in the 2018-19 offseason.  The other returnee is Liam Henry, via a bench role, the rookie is playing his 3rd game here, a local who looks set to have a bright future as a small, live-wire Forward.  Wood and Lipisnki return for the Dogs, in what they surely hope is not their last match of the season, while Suckling and McLean make way due to injury, and Wallis celebrates his 150th, or not if they lose, as the case may be.

These teams split the results in 2019, as Fremantle held a strong 19-point win way back in April, while the Dogs will hope this game emulates the July 2019 fixture when they caned the Dockers by 47.  For those who take note of long-term statistics this one is particularly hard to read, as the teams are locked on 16-16 games each since the Western state gained admission to the AFL.  Unbelievably the Dockers are $3.10 and handicapped at +15.5 for this game, despite having won their last two games strongly, one even up here in the north, while the Dogs are $1.38, those odds seem misleading.

PREDICITON: Fremantle to come up with a shock and stun the Doggies, ousting them from the competition, winning by 10-15.

BETTING TIP: The Dockers by 1-39 pays nicely at $3.10.
