Eibar vs Osasuna – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 33 continues with Eibar taking on Osasuna on Thursday the 2nd of July, 2020, at Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa.

Eibar visited Granada on Sunday and earned a rare away from home victory (1-2). How rare? Last time they had won as guests was in November (1-2 at Leganés), and before that someone would have to go back to April 2019 to find an Eibar win away from home. Their current form reads; WWDDL. Before Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games Eibar were 15th on the table, on 35 points from 32 matches. They have 9W, 8D and 15L, having scored 34 goals and conceded 48, which leaves them with a -14GD. Coach José Mendilibar played a 4-2-3-1 formation in Granada, with Kike up front. He is the one who scored the winner in the 69th minute. Earlier, in the 16th- minute, Argentine Pablo De Blasis had made it 0-1 for Eibar.

Osasuna hosted Leganés on Saturday and won 2-1, with Enric Gallego scoring twice, including the winner in added time. Their current form reads; WWLLD. This is the first time since April 2017 that they managed to win back-to-back games in La Liga. The coincidence that makes this… incredible, is that even back in 2017, it was Alavés and Leganés they had beaten. But wait; what makes this… creepy, is that just like back then, Osasuna beat Alavés away from home this time as well, and Leganés at home. And right when you thought the coincidence couldn’t get any crazier, read this; the scores back then were Alavés X Osasuna 0-1, and Osasuna X Leganés 2-1. Yes, exactly the same results were repeated this past week, and in the same order. You simply can’t make this stuff up… Before Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games Osasuna were 11th on the table, on 41 points from 32 matches. They have 10W, 11D and 11L, having scored 38 goals and conceded 47, which leaves them with a -9GD. Coach Jagoba Arrasate played a 4-4-2 formation against Leganés, with Gallego and Adrián up front. The former, who scored both goals, had not scored for Osasuna in his 10 previous appearances this season(!).

The reverse fixture, which took place in August 2019, was a goalless draw. Before that, they had not met since the 2016-17 season, when they drew 1-1 in Pamplona.

Both teams have won their last two games, looking well. It’s hard to tell one has an advantage over the other, especially without fans on the stands.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Thursday, 2nd of July, 2020.

Venue: Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa
