Chelsea vs Sevilla – UEFA Champions League Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction.

The UEFA Champions League returns this week on Tuesday the 20th of October, 2020 as Chelsea vs Sevilla kicks off at 20:00 (BST) in Stamford Bridge on Match-day 1.

Chelsea was in action days ago in the English Premier League – picking up another 3-3 draw, this time against Southampton after the one we saw against West Bromwich Albion on match day 3. That was their third draw in six games; LWDDWD, but on Tuesday Frank Lampard will be looking to get a fantastic 2020/2021 Champions League start for Chelsea with a win. The Blues are listed in Group E along with the Krasnodar, Rennes and of course, Sevilla and shouldn’t have much problems qualifying into the next round.

Frank Lampard’s 4-2-3-1 formation is expected to feature Timo Werner who scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea over the weekend. A brace from the 24-year-old will see him cement his place up-front ahead of Tammy Abraham while Mason Mount, Havertz and Pulisic will be behind him. It’s uncertain if Zouma would be in the starting line-up after that defensive howler which gave away a goal to Southampton. Thiago Silva will likely return in his place while Kepa Arrizabalaga could keep his spot despite another disappointing show over the weekend as Edouard Mendy remains unavailable. Hakim Ziyech made his debut for Chelsea over the weekend and is expected to feature before this fixture comes to an end.

UEFA Cup Champions, Sevilla lost their last match, 1-0 against Granada. Before that Saturday defeat, they earned a draw against Barcelona, 1-1. Currently, they have a form that reads; LLWWDL. Recently, they bolstered their side with new acquisitions such as Ivan Rakitić from Barcelona, Óscar from Madrid and Marcos Acuña from Sporting CP. Hence coach Lopetegui has plenty of options to select his best XI from. The Spanish tactician will likely adopt a 4-3-3 formation with Suso on the right, Lucas Ocampos in center and De Jong on the left in attack. Jules Kounde will be unavailable for this fixture after recently testing positive for coronavirus.

This will be the first time both sides will be meeting. A 1-1 draw is predicted at the end of this game which will be officiated by referee Davide Massa (Italy).
