Burnley vs Southampton – Premier League Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 3 continues with Burnley taking on Southampton on Saturday the 26th of September, 2020, at Turf Moor.

Burnley visited Leicester last weekend on their Premier League debut, started out great taking the lead in the 10th minute, but by the 61st they were 3-1 down. They did manage to get back into the game with a second goal, but practically right after that, Leicester scored again. Final score, 4-2. Midweek, they visited Milwall for a League Cup match, in which they got the job done, winning 0-2 to qualify for the next round. Their current form reads; LWDLW. Coach Sean Dyche spent more time answering transfer related questions these last days, rather than talking about his team’s first three (they have already eliminated two teams in the League Cup) official matches of the season. The thing is, Burnley have kept awfully quiet thus far in this transfer window, and Dyche’s position is that the club have to stay patient, and focus on the players they really need, instead of signing guys just for the sake of… signing.

Unlike Burnley who have played only once in the Premier League at the start of this new season, Southampton have already played twice, and lost both matches. Last weekend it was to Tottenham, at home, a… weird game, in which the Saints dominated in the first 45 minutes, took the lead, but got equalized in added time. Then, in the second half, Tottenham’s Kane-Son duo worked miracles, leading Tottenham to an unexpected 1-5(!) lead. Final score, 2-5, no point yet for Southampton in the Premier League. Their current form reads; LLLWW. Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl told reporters he “regretted mistakes made” in that 2-5 against Tottenham. He too is obliged to have his attention split between what is going on on the pitch, and what is happening in the transfer market, as it’s a common secret that more players are going to leave Southampton these coming days, and they desperately need new blood coming in.

Burnley beat Southampton twice last season, 3-0 at home and 1-2 as guests.

Should be a tight game, decided probably by a single goal.

A 1-0 victory for Burnley is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 26th of September, 2020.
