Nice vs Bordeaux – Ligue 1 Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 20 encounter, with Nice taking on Bordeaux on Sunday the 17th of January, 2021, at Allianz Riviera.

Nice visited Metz last weekend, opened the scoring in the 18th minute from the penalty spot, but couldn’t hold on to that, they got equalized in the 79th minute and had to settle for a single point. Their current form reads; DLDLW. They are on 23 points from 18 matches, 13th in the table. They have 6W, 5D and 7L, having failed to win any of their last four games. Goals, 22 scored, 25 conceded. Coach Adrian Ursea played a 3-1-4-2 formation against Metz, with Rony Lopes and Gouiri up front. It was the latter who took the penalty kick in the 18th minute, to open the scoring for Nice. The 20-year-old is now on six goals from 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season. He is an interesting case, as last season he played just once for Lyon’s first team in Ligue 1, but 12 for their second team in a lower division, where he scored eight goals. He moved to Nice at the end of last season, and they definitely show a lot of faith in him, even letting him take penalties.

Bordeaux hosted Lorient last weekend, took the lead twice in the first half, 1-0 and 2-1, and went on to protect that lead after the interval, earning all three points. Their current form reads; WDLWL. They are on 26 points from 19 matches, 10th in the table. They have 7W, 5D and 7L, having lost only one of their last four games. Goals, 20 scored, 21 conceded. Coach Jean-Louis Gasset played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Lorient, with Korean Hwang Ui-jo up front. It was Oudin who scored both goals for Bordeaux, in the 13th and 43rd minute. A game to remember for the 24-year-old… He had just one goal for Bordeaux last season, he had two this season before last weekend’s game, and scored two in a single half(!) against Lorient, doubling his 2020-21 tally. Should be mentioned that as guests, Bordeaux have lost just one of their last five matches.

Bordeaux hosted Nice twice in 2020, they drew 1-1 in March, and 0-0 in September.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Sunday, 17th of January, 2021.

Venue: Allianz Riviera

Kick-off time: 15:00 (GMT+2).
