Lens vs Bordeaux – Ligue 1 Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 4 continues with Lens taking on Bordeaux on Saturday the 19th of September, 2020, at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Wow… Three days after beating PSG(!) 1-0, Lens pretty much threw a party at Lorient last weekend, despite going 1-0 down. By the 63rd minute they were 1-3 up, totally dominating on the pitch, and going on creating scoring chances even after their third goal. Final score, 2-3, only because 20-year-old centre-back Loïc Badé acted careless in added time, giving away a penalty. He also received a second yellow card, and had to leave the pitch. Lens are now on six points from three league games. Their current form reads; WWLWL. Coach Franck Haise played a 3-4-3 formation last weekend, which apparently helped his team create several scoring chances. Gaël Kakuta equalized from the penalty spot, centre-back Facundo Medina made it 1-2 before halftime with an incredible overhead bicycle-kick(!), and 21-year-old striker Ignatius Ganago practically secured all three points for Lens with his second-half goal.

Bordeaux were rather lucky to avoid defeat last weekend when they hosted Lyon. Throughout the game it was more than obvious that Bordeaux were up and against a much stronger side. They focused on their defence, and, as previously mentioned, with a good dose of luck, they managed to keep a clean sheet and earn a point (0-0). On the other hand, it was… striking that they failed to create a single, a SINGLE real scoring chance in 90 minutes. Their current form reads; DWDDL. They are now on five points from their first three matches, remaining undefeated, and, super interesting, having kept a clean sheet in all three games. Coach Jean-Louis Gasset played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Lyon, making it super clear that his priority was to protect his goal.

Lens and Bordeaux last faced each other in the 2014-15 season. Back then, Bordeaux won both matches, 2-1 at home and 1-2 as guests.

Very interesting game, between a newly-promoted side that have impressed in their first few games this season, and an undefeated Bordeaux, who, though, have struggled offensively. All things considered, Lens should earn something from this match, but Bordeaux should stay undefeated.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.
