Betis vs Real Sociedad – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 6 continues with Betis taking on Real Sociedad on Sunday the 18th of October, 2020, at Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Betis visited Valencia two weeks ago, and from the very first minutes you could tell they… meant business. Sergio Canales gave them the lead in the 19th minute, and instead of slowing down, Betis kept pushing for more goals. They got rewarded for their mentality/approach in the 74th minute, when Cristian Tello made it 0-2, putting the game to bed. Their current form reads; WLLWW. Nine points for them from their first five La Liga matches. Three wins, a 2-3 home loss to Real Madrid, and a… hard to explain 3-0 hands-down defeat at Getafe, that’s what they have done thus far. Coach Manuel Pellegrini played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Valencia, with Paraguayan striker Antonio Sanabria up front. Should be mentioned that 39-year-old(!) Joaquín, the captain, was involved in both goals, running like a youngster even until late into the match...

Real Sociedad hosted Getafe just before the international break, a Getafe side that were on seven points from three matches at the start of the season, having kept a clean sheet in all three games. Real Sociedad took the lead in the first half from the penalty spot, scored twice more in the last 10-15 minutes of the match, won 3-0, scored three(!) goals past a team that had not conceded any in more than 270 minutes before that, and what’s equally… striking is that the San Sebastián side hardly got threatened, Getafe looked… toothless. Their current form reads; WLWDD. They are now on eight points from five La Liga matches, having 2W, 2D and 1L. Goals, seven scored, two conceded. Coach Imanol Alguacil played a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Swede Alexander Isak up front. Mikel Oyarzabal did a great job, scoring easily from the penalty spot, and providing the assist for his team’s second goal in the 79th minute (scored by Mikel Merino). Portu’s 3-0 in the 81st minute was the cherry on top for Real Sociedad.

Last season’s Betis vs Real Sociedad was a 3-0 win for the hosts. Earlier on, Real Sociedad had won 3-1 in San Sebastián.

Very interesting game, which can definitely go either way. At the end of the day, Betis should win, but maybe that’s just a hunch “talking”.

A 2-1 victory for Betis is predicted at full-time.
